Our research aims at understanding and applying in clinical practice, the basis for differences between individuals in human drug toxicity and drug response. The emphasis is on genetic polymorphism of the genes encoding drug transporters, drug metabolizing enzymes and drug targets.

The research performed in our laboratory is focused around specific drugs, genes, and phenotypes of interest. To do so a specific biobank, with hundreds of DNA samples, has been established and drugs currently under study include: Azathioprine, Tacrolimus and Carvedilol. Genes currently under study include TPMT, CYP3A4, CYP3A5, CYP2D6 and ABCB1.
